Wanindu Hasaranga
Wanindu Hasaranga can be a real game-changer for Sri Lanka in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
According to the ICC rankings, he is currently the No. 1 All-Rounder and No.2 bowler and lived up to the title, too. He played 65 T20I matches and scored 650 runs with an average of 15.11 and a strike rate of 130.52. Hasaranga doesn't require much off the pitch, and he bowls wicket-to-wicket. His greatest strength lies in bowling a terrific wrong un (googly) that many batters find challenging to play.
Charith Asalanka
Another gem from Sri Lanka is Charity Asalanka. The versatile left-hander, Asalanka emerged as a stand-out top-order batsman in the 2022 T20 World CupHe played 44 T20I matches and scored 990 runs with an average of 25.38. The 24-year-old made his debut in all three match formats for Sri Lanka in 2021. Unlike many modern cricketers, who come out swinging with a heavy bat, Asalanka plays good cricketing shots. He backs the ability to score runs even on some really good balls. As a reward for his incredible performance, Asalanka was given vice-captaincy during the recent Australian series.
Mahesh Theekshana
Mahesh Theekshana started his international career in September 2021. But, he is already showing all the signs of a master player, even earning the nickname 'Mystery Spinner.' The 21-year-old has enjoyed a lot of success in the T20 World Cup's early stages. Instead of turning the ball, he skips it, making it difficult for batsmen to nail his bowling.
Mahesh Theekshana was also the Player of the Match when Sri Lanka and Namibia clashed in the T20 World Cup in 2021. Mahesh took three crucial wickets while giving just 25 runs. In 2022, he just took 1 wicket while giving 23 runs.
Dushmantha Chameera and Lahiru Kumara
Sri Lanka's bowling arsenal is not just spin bowlers. Dushmantha Chameera and Lahiru Kumara can deliver bowling speeds up to 140 kph in every match. During the T20 World Cup, 30-years-old Chameera took one wicket in 2021 as well as in 2022, and 24-years-old Kumara took two wickets in 2021 but was not the part of World Cup in 2022 and in 2024 as well.
Though Chameera's career was plagued with injuries in the early stages, he has regained his form over the last couple of years. Not only has he improved his speed, but he's also developed variants that can even make an expert batsman sweat through the helmet.
Dasun Shanaka
Dasun Shanaka is a significant member of the Sri Lankan roster. He is an explosive middle-order batsman and a solid right-arm seam bowler. Shanaka rose to prominence after smashing the Sri Lankan record of 16 sixes in a 123-run innings against Saracens Sports Club in an AIA Premier T20 competition. He had smashed 131 runs off 48 balls against the Galle Cricket Club just a week before. However, his bowling sealed his reputation on the international scene when he took three wickets while only giving away 16 runs against India on a Pune green top. Shanaka was also outstanding in the recent T20 series. He will undoubtedly be a key player for Sri Lanka in the 2024 World Cup.

His breathtaking 171 runs off 126 balls in a 50-over defeat against Hampshire was one of the best innings in the county's 2019 season.
